Renders

For my renders I decided to try give my character a gloomy effect by using a small amount of lighting on the face and more on the body.

I also experimented with the intensity of the lighting in the images below to make the character look like it is hiding in the shadows which fits in well with my character as I imagine it to be quite a stealthy character.

For this image i was trying to make the character look sorrowful because i imagined him to be the only one of his kind and because of this he would be lonely and misunderstood, i did this by positioning the head to look down and using low lighting.

For the skin and back peice textures i found a suitable image of a sack texture and used the heal tool in photoshop to repeat the texture, this made it so i could texture the body and head quickly but still have it work effectively.
Using the method allowed me to use slightly darker bits of the original image to add a dirty look to my texture in different parts. Adding black to the eye sockets with a low opacity allowed me to give them depth and highlight that they are empty.

For me creating the head was the hardest part of the modelling process, I found it extremely hard to get the shape to something I was happy with because the drawing I had used didn't have much detail in the face I had to experiment with the facial features until I was happy with it but because of this the face doesn't look much like I had first wanted it but I am still happy with how it has turned out.
I initially wanted the nose to be a rip in the face I started trying the model it into a rip but soon decided upon giving him a misshaped nose instead because I realised after a lot of trying and failing that I wouldn't be able to model a rip small enough to be the nose and make it detailed enough for the face. I also like that because I have taken out all the rips that were in my previous designs the audience never fully know what is inside the character and because of that will never truly know if he is alive or robotic.
I decided from an early point in the project that my character would be stitched together to show that it is a man made character. Because of this I had to curl the side of the model into the character so that there is a slight gap running all the way down the middle that I could then place stitching over.

I wanted my characters skin to look like it is hanging from the skeleton instead of been tight, to show this I created the lower arm to be bigger than the upper which isn't commonly used for characters but works well in this case. I also used a think line going along the top of the arm to show the robotic skeleton under the skin.
When it came to modelling the boot I decided to change it from the drawing I had done previously because I felt it was too simple and didn't compliment the character. firstly I chose to have to foot look like it was splatted to the ground due to the skin been lose but after a while I decided to change it again, this time giving it more of a boot look but still been built into the leg so it looks like the boot is under the skin and part of my characters skeleton.

Side view

Front View

Charcter Final Draft

This is my final development drawing before i go onto draw the front and side view of the character.

My favourite features of this character are his hands i feel the robotic style of them mixed with the sack like skin will give for quite a creepy and unsettling character.
